Center Profile

Emerging Engineering Education (EEE) is a strategic initiative launched to proactively respond to the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. It constitutes a core component and key vehicle of the Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program 2.0, and points the way forward for engineering education reform in the new era. In April 2018, Tianjin University established the world's first base for teaching‑and‑learning research, training and exchange in Emerging Engineering Education — the Tianjin University Emerging Engineering Education Center — and took the lead in launching the International Alliance for Emerging Engineering Education. In April 2019, with Tianjin University as the host institution, the Ministry of Education established the National Center for Innovation in Emerging Engineering Education to coordinate the development of Emerging Engineering Education nationwide. Guided by world‑class standards, the National Center for Innovation in Emerging Engineering Education will carry out in‑depth theoretical and policy research on Emerging Engineering Education in China and abroad, develop standards for talent cultivation, provide capacity‑building for faculty, organize and advance national research and practice projects under the Emerging Engineering Education initiative, conduct tracking studies on the Washington Accord and other relevant accords of the International Engineering Alliance, and promote international exchange and cooperation in Emerging Engineering Education. Through these efforts, the Center strives to help establish distinctive Chinese standards, theories, propositions and paradigms in Emerging Engineering Education.
